Based on an original collage created by a Patterson Flynn artist, Patchwork is a play on positive and negative space. Sea Salt is crafted of cotton yarn, dyed with a strié technique that gives the colors dimension and emphasizes the handmade nature of the rug. The designers utilized variations in loop size — smaller, recessed loops for the background, chunkier loops for the shapes and the border — to enhance the tactile appeal of this rug. The pattern of irregular shapes is at once abstract and intentional, occasionally joining like puzzle pieces or drifting over the border. With a colorway that combines stark black and white elements with neutrals and earth tones, this highly versatile rug puts a modern spin on a timeless hand-hooked construction.
