Designed in collaboration with Thomas O’Brien, Kyoto was conceived as a companion to our Haiku rug. Haiku’s main motif, inspired by a vintage Indian hand-block print, forms the border while the central field of large-scale overlapping leaves is drawn from an Art Deco-era piece from O’Brien’s collection of antique kimono screens. The updated colors inject the formal silk Persian with a certain freshness.
