A celebration of designer Johnson Hartig’s earliest esoteric design influences, Mise En Place takes its visual cues from 16th century French emblem books. Arranged in rows, every emblem is unique. Mythical creatures, celestial images, medical illustrations, and Latin phrases — including the words “Amo Libertinae”, a reference to Hartig’s label — are among the motifs depicted in a detailed, etched style on a cream background. Double rows of dots form a simple border, with shading details in the corners. Part of Hartig’s first collection with Patterson Flynn, this Tibetan hand-knot construction is 100 percent wool.
