A re-imagining of a favorite hand-knotted pattern in the Patterson Flynn portfolio, Metropolis is hand-tufted in a single color, with the design rendered in variations in the materials and weave. It is reminiscent of the geometric motifs seen in indigenous basketweaving, but the elegant linework also could be interpreted as a shell or a fan, lending it more versatility. Bamboo and wool yarns, in the same shade of creamy ivory, alternate in rows to form a subtly striped background, while a slightly raised cut pile bamboo depicts the repeating geometric design.
